Biography
Lottie Greenhow was born in Norway and brought up in Buckinghamshire. She studied Music at Cambridge University, where she held choral scholarships at Christ’s and Jesus Colleges and won the Christ's College Composition Prize. She later completed an MMus in Choral Studies (Vocal Pathway) at Jesus College, Cambridge, whilst singing with the Choir of Clare College; she received a Distinction and finished top of her year.
Lottie is perhaps best known for her work as vocalist and Hardanger Fiddle/violin soloist on Erland Cooper's triptych of Orkney-inspired albums: Solan Goose, Sule Skerry (shortlisted for Scottish Album of the Year 2020) and Hether Blether. She has performed with Cooper to critical acclaim at venues and festivals including The Barbican, WOMAD, The Queen's Hall Edinburgh, Port Eliot Festival, The Good Life Experience, Kenilworth Arts Festival, Cley Calling Festival, Rough Trade Records and the Plaza Cinema Skipton, as well as performing excerpts from the albums live on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio 6.
Concert performances include Handel Gloria and Dixit Dominus (Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment/John Butt), Canteloube Songs of the Auvergne (Milton Keynes Sinfonia), Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle (St Ives Choral Society), Mozart Mass in C Minor (Biggleswade Choral Society), Bach St John Passion (Wetherby Choral Society), Messiah (Wetherby Choral Society and East Malling Singers), Verdi Ave Maria (Otello) (Great Ouse Orchestra), Rossini Stabat Mater (St Magnus Festival Chorus), Haydn St Nicolas Mass & Faure Requiem (City Chorus), Bach Cantata 10 (Oxford Bach Ensemble), the UK premiere of Peter Webb's Walk Cheerfully (Aylwin Quartet/Richard Simpson, Jordans & Hertford Meeting Houses), Vivaldi Magnificat, Britten Ceremony of Carols (Vivace Choir, Arlesey), Brahms German Requiem (Newnham College, Cambridge/Monica Buckland), Faure Requiem, Vivaldi Gloria and Mozart Requiem (Bedford Come and Sing Choir), Handel's Foundling Anthem (Oktoberfest Orchestra and Chorus), Jenkins The Armed Man (Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus/INO Mixed Chorus/Danesborough Chorus/Bedford Choral Society/Eagle Choir), Bach Coffee Cantata (Bedford Sinfonia) and Jauchzet Gott (Cambridge Cantata Consort) as well as appearances at the O2 Arena, the Liverpool Echo Arena, Cambridge and Brunel Universities, the Ashwell Music Festival and the Beaconsfield Music Society. She has also performed as a guest soloist with the London Welsh Male Voice Choir.
Operatic credits include title role Poppea (OperaZone), Phyllis Iolanthe (Rocket Opera and at Buxton Opera House), Suor Genovieffa Suor Angelica (Empyrean Ensemble and for the New London Opera Players, Cardiff), Second Woman/First Witch Dido and Aeneas (Westminster Opera, Chateau de Panloy, France), Poesie Les Arts Florissants in Cambridge, Zemfira Aleko (Great Ouse Orchestra) and title role Iolanthe (Bedfordshire Youth Opera).
Lottie is much in demand as a consort and choral singer across the UK. For seven years she was the regular soprano with the professional choir of St Magnus-the-Martyr (where she was also Director of Music from 2016-2019) and is a member of professional choirs Gaude and Luminatus. She appears on the recordings of Inexplicable Splendour and Regina Coeli: Music for High Mass and Benediction (Choir of St Magnus-the-Martyr) and Ablaze with Light, a collection of choral works by William Petter. She is the founder of Bedford-based close harmony group The Goldentones, who produced a number of videos to raise local spirits during the COVID-19 pandemic. She deputises with a number of church choirs across London and further afield.
In addition to her freelance singing career, Lottie is also active as a conductor, violinist, harpist, pianist and Hardanger fiddle player. She teaches piano and violin at Pilgrim's Pre-Preparatory School in Bedford and runs the local branch of Mini Mozart, a classical music class for babies and toddlers! She is married to tenor Harry Bagnall and they live in Bedford with their two young daughters and yellow Labrador. Upcoming engagements include Mahler Fourth Symphony (Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra), Vivaldi Gloria and Mozart Requiem (Doncaster Choral Society), Haydn Creation (Bedford School Choral Society), Bach St John Passion (Luminatus Choir and Orchestra), Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle (Bedford CAS Choir) and Brahms German Requiem (Danesborough Chorus).
