Violin
Lottie began her musical career as a violinist, beginning lessons at the tender age of 4 with Peter Thornley, who displayed the patience of a saint and continued to teach her until she reached the age of 18.
By the age of 13 Lottie had achieved her Grade 8 Violin with Distinction, and continued to show promise as a violinist throughout her school years. As leader of, and soloist with, the Beaconsfield High School Orchestra, she toured Germany and Poland aged 16 playing Beethoven's Romanze in F for Violin & Orchestra and a selection of the Wieniawski Caprices. She also appeared as a solo violinist with the High Wycombe Youth Orchestra, taking the violin solos in Lalo Symphonie Espagnole.

After leaving school, Lottie continued to play the violin throughout her studies at Cambridge University, taking lessons firstly with Jane Foottit and then with Maureen Smith at the Royal College of Music. She continued to further her experience as a solo violinist, performing Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major, the Bach Double Violin Concerto and Vivaldi's L'Estro Armonico with the Christ's College Symphony Orchestra, and Vivaldi's Four Seasons with the University of Cambridge Philharmonic Orchestra.
As an orchestral player, Lottie has extensive experience both as a violinist and viola player. Whilst at school she was fortunate to earn a place with the English Schools' Orchestra, and also played with the Chiltern Camerata, the Slough Philharmonic, and the professional Thame Chamber Orchestra. She also led the High Wycombe Youth Orchestra and the High Wycombe Youth String Orchestra and played with the Belvedere Ensemble in East Berkshire. At university she played with the Cambridge University Music Society First Orchestra, led the Christ's College Symphony Orchestra and played viola with the Cambridge University Opera Society.
Lottie also has extensive chamber music experience and played for three years as first violinist with the semi-professional Isambard String Quartet, which was coached by the world-famous Maggini Quartet. She has also worked as a session violinist for commercial recordings, appearing recently on Meadowlark's tracks "Sunlight", "Pink Heart (Alt. Version)" and "May I Have This Dance".
Lottie continues to play and teach the violin and has recently resumed lessons with John Shayler. She currently plays with the Bedford Sinfonia and the Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra and is also active as a chamber musician for weddings, parties and other events. She also enjoys playing traditional Norwegian vanlegfele tunes on her violin, and also plays the Hardanger Fiddle.
